3D art

In this activity, we crafted 3D art by designing our own monsters. We collected all the materials we would use from the front table. Then, we began by cutting out our eyes and nose and gluing them onto the piece of paper that we were going to use as our monster's head. Next, we drew our mouths and any additional features we wanted on the face. Once that was completed, we glued the head onto the background paper and proceeded to create the ears and hair and glued them down. We also crafted the neck and shirt, where I added some designs to my shirt to make it more interesting. After everything was glued down and arranged as we wished, we cleaned up the area and finished our monster creation.

As an extension exercise, I would encourage my students to create their self-portrait utilizing the 3D approach we used earlier. They could use the same materials or pick different ones if they prefer. Furthermore, they can be as imaginative and original as they wish with their self-portrait. This would be good if we had skin tone paper or I can have the student create what they would look like if they were a monster.
