Optical Illusion Art

Students were able to create their own designs using pencils and rulers to make geometric shapes and lines that would create the illusion. Students can use colored pencils, markers, or paint to color their designs. Students were told to use complementary colors and draw their names or initials using the same optical illusion effect.

Overall, this optical illusion drawing art project is a great way for elementary school students to explore the concept of perspective and create fun and engaging artwork. It can be an excellent opportunity to teach them about the creative process and how to use their imaginations to create something unique and visually striking.

An extension activity could be to have students create a simple design with concentric circles or spirals that appear to be moving or expanding. Another idea could be to have them create a design with squares or rectangles that seem to be shifting or tilting.
