Clay Monsters

In this lesson, we crafted clay monsters by first sketching our desired monster design on paper, including three distinct features. My monster design was a green creature with one eye, three teeth and a tongue. We then prepared the clay by removing any air bubbles through hand molding and separating a small portion of it for add-ons. Using circular motions, we molded the clay to create the monster's mouth and learned how to properly attach the add-ons. I crafted an eyeball and teeth to add to my monster. Finally, we painted our monsters. This could be used as an activity for Halloween or when learning about fiction novels.
